[10/28/21] Centaurea peltieri (Asteraceae), a new endemic species from the Oriental High Atlas of Morocco

Centaurea peltieri belongs to C. sect. Melanoloma (Cass.) DC. and is close to C. takredensis, the only species from the section with epappose achenes. It differs from C. takredensis by the arachnoid bracts especially above, and the middle bracts ended in a spinescent, pinnate, recurvate appendage.

The species appears to be endemic to a small area in the Maasker mountains (Oriental High Atlas).
